House

IKEA made their delivery on Thursday, yesterday, so the interior decorator went to work fixing up the house.....here's what it looks like so far...still a work in progress but definitely better!

The first week of school

Well, the first week of school is over and I must say I had a wonderful week! The boys were well behaved, though some of them were boys, and I had a good time. My principal is wonderful and my HOF (Head of Faculty) is great! We had two HOF's but found out on Wednesday that one was being moved to another school. The quote of the day was "The only thing permanent is change." I agree.

I have heard other news of changes that are going to occur for me, but I will save these details for later. Here are pictures of my classroom....Taking today off, a little to rest, and I will start work again tomorrow, Saturday, before the work week starts.

I am really enjoying it here so far, I feel stress free......I have two classes that I teach Science, Math, and English for about 2 1/2 hours everyday. This is the life......Praise God!

Getting it Together

We are getting our house together, still a lot of things to add, but it's coming along. Any suggestions?

Bedaya

Richmond City used to have a beginning of the year pep rally for teachers where all of the teachers from the district would meet at the Arthur Ashe Center and start the year off together. Well we had the same thing here on Sunday, August 2nd called Bedaya. We were all sent to the ADNEC building where we had kind of the same thing, where we heard the goals and objectives for this year and that of the previous year. It was very motivational and even through my interpreting head phones, I got the gist of it. :-)

My School

Well, I officially visited my school today! I will be teaching at MBK (The acronym for my high school) Muhammed Bin Kalifa School. It is an all boys school and I will be teaching 5th grade, two classes of it. One during the first period, and one during the second period. It is during this time that I will be teaching integrated math, science, and english. Now usually, I like to set up my classroom first, and then organize my lessons and things of that nature, but my HOF (Head of Faculty) stressed that we need to get our routines down first and not to worry about the classroom atmosphere. I heard this but I was really just trying to get out the way what I could, and was still trying to get my class straight by going to Carrefour and getting all of the extra pieces I wanted to put in my room, unfortunately, they didn't have it at Carrefour. Both Thomas and I too tired to go to another store, came home and took a nap, and when I woke up, I came to the realization of what my HOF had told me earlier, just focus on routines, don't worry about the classroom now. So that's where my mind is right now. We have another meeting tomorrow, and actually schools starts Monday with our only day of preparing our classrooms today. Not the time that I am used to, but hey, I'll take it! I am really just being very laid back and not stressing about it. It will all work out, and trust me, I'm praying. :-) Here are pictures of my classroom.... All I was able to get done today...Work in Progress....
